Spoiling My New Niece Today

Well, I was in 7th heaven today.....I was able to hold, feed, and change diapers for my newest niece, little Jenna Faith! What an absolute DOLL!!!!!!! I just had the best time being with her. Everyone that knows me, KNOWS that my first niece, Caitlin is absolutely SPOILED ROTTEN by me and now I have another little one to love. Little Jenna will be close in age to our baby girl whenever we get her so they can grow up together and hopefully be close. That will be great!
I also played with my nephew Zachary and of course Caitlin too!

Well, my dear sister-friend, Felicity, just tagged me and I get the joy of tagging seven other people. Here's how it works:
Now, I have been tagged... 7 things about me...
1. I once sneaked in back stage at the Grand Ol Opry with my best friend, Kim. What an adventure. Actually, we just walked in with some other musicians and no one said anything to us.
2. I met my hubby online and had not planned to get serious about anyone. In fact the night before I met him I had decided that I was NOT going to date anymore or think about marrying anyone.
3. I like to cook and I collect cookbooks/magazines.
4. I still have my teddy bear from when I was 2 years old.
5. My favorite shows are old sitcoms such as Laverne and Shirley, Partridge Family, Love Boat, Happy Days, Brady Bunch, etc.
6. I still dream about being a famous singer and performing on the Grand Ol' Opry
7. I love to watch Hanna Barbara cartoons and laugh out loud! (Bugs Bunny, Sylvester and Tweety, Pepe Le Pew, Foghorn Leghorn......gosh now THOSE were good cartoons!)

I Finished The Little Baby Quilt!!!!!!!!

Well, I've had some time to sit down and just enjoy working on the baby quilt that I started a few months ago, and I got it finished today! I can't believe how pretty it turned out! Of course there are some "messy" stitches here and there but that's ok. I made it with a lot of love and just REALLY had an enjoyable time doing it! Considering that I've never learned how to sew....this is pretty darn good! Of course as soon as I laid it down to take a picture of it, my baby cat, Savannah thought Mommy had made her a new blankie! She REALLY liked it! Looks like baby Rebekah will have to compete to get THIS quilt! hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

23rd LID-iversary Today

Well here we are at month #23 since we had our paperwork(dossier) logged in in good ol' China. No end in sight. You know sometimes I feel like this is just some crazy joke that is NEVER going to happen! I mean really........are we EVER going to get a baby???? Even now, sitting here typing this, I can't help but laugh.....what's the old saying? It's better to laugh than to cry.....so yes, I'm laughing because it has just gotten to the point where it is ridiculous.....23 MONTHS! Next month will be TWO WHOLE YEARS that our paperwork has sit on some shelf in China collecting dust and probably getting eat up by moths! hahahahahahahaha By the time they get to our little LID stack for April 5, 2006 there will be nothing left except some big ol' fat Chinese moths! hahahahahahahahahaha
Let's hope it's in a protective ziplock......
Anyhow, that's my entry for this LID-iversary. On a brighter note....we did find out this week that the CCAA has gotten through January 4, 2006, (8 days worth in a whole month) so at least they are working on 2006 ones.......FINALLY! We'll keep going on with life while we wait for them to sort through and get to the April 06ers! Why did I choose to post the sleeping ladybug? Well, that's kind of how I feel this dream of being a mommy is going......it's just lazily sleeping waiting for the big wakeup call when we see CCAA getting closer to matching us with our baby. I think so many of us WANT to be excited about the process but it's a dormant "sleeping" dream right now to us and we guard our hearts by not getting too excited for fear of it coming to an end and our hearts being broken. Let's just hope CCAA speeds up and takes us all by surprise! Now THAT would be something worth getting excited over!

Southern VA FCC Meeting Today

Well, today Doug and I had lunch at The Super China Buffet in Danville with another couple, Michelle and Scott, who are also adopting from China. They are logged in a couple of months behind us so once we get our Rebekah, they should travel soon to get their little girl. It was so nice to meet them and be able to sit and talk to people from our area who UNDERSTAND the adoption "jargon" and the pain of having to wait and wait and wait and wait!!!!! I think we talked for about 2 HOURS! Others from our small group were not able to make it but we're certainly hoping to see them at our next together in a month or so. We had great food and even better company and just came home feeling a little more excited about the whole process. YAY!

Danville FCC Meeting Tomorrow

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more

Well, tomorrow Doug and I are having lunch at a local Chinese restaurant with some other people from right here in the area who are in the process of adopting from China! Can you believe it? We are forming the Southern VA FCC Group! It is a small group but I'm hoping that it will become a closeknit group of friends. I know that I absolutely love my friends we've made in the Roanoke FCC Group and I would NEVER stop being a part of that group, but it will be nice to make some new friends from right here in own backyard too. In the end, I'm hoping that our girls will one day have a network of friends who can share the common bond of being adopted from China. I'm nervous about meeting them tomorrow and hope that all goes well. Doug and I love making new friends and meeting new people, so this will hopefully be a great experience. I'll post later about how it goes! ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more
