Ginger Appleton

You all know that we love cats and now apparently the word has spread! hahahahaha Here is the stray cat that has claimed us as her parents! At first she wouldn't come near us and would run every time we tried to go near her, but over time she has come to trust us and will now purr and rub up against us when we go outside. Amazing what some kind words and Fancy Feast will do, eh? She LOVES Doug! We named her Ginger after the prissy movie star on Gilligan's Island. The name kinda fits. She has long, beautiful gray fur and to-die-for green eyes! Welcome to the family Ginger. You're an Appleton now!

Dad Sends Canada Goodies

Doug's Dad, Bruce, sent a piece of cloth for Rebekah's 100 Wishes Quilt and he also found some really cool pictures from Doug's past. I love the one of Doug when he was about 3 months old being held by his mom and his sister on the left. Wasn't his mom a beautiful lady??? The bottom picture is Dad with a crew cut! LOVE THAT! Thanks Dad for the cloth AND for the extra bonus of treasured family photos. You KNOW I love those!
Love,
Your Daughter-In-Law,
Susan
P.S. We're still collecting wishes/fabric. I have 92 so I need 8 more if anyone wants to send one! (hint hint)

Ladybugs Everywhere

Over the weekend, I bought a flag to hang in front of the house and a mailbox cover (magnetic) with ladybugs! I just LOVED them both and they look so cute outside! Maybe they will bring some good luck! hahahahahahahahaha

Tinkerbell Fliss Strikes Again!

My dear friend, Felicity (who LOVES Tinkerbell), surprised us again with a goody box! Today I got home late from work, feeling tired and worn out and SURPRISE there's a box from Felicity! I opened it to find a beautiful Mulan doll for Rebekah and then she also sent the cutest little book called "Felicity's Wishes: Little Book of Wishes" which was ADORABLE! She had phoned me Saturday from the Disney Store and told me she was sending Rebekah a Mulan doll and had gotten her baby, Shauna, one too! For those of you who don't know Felicity, she is adopting a baby from China too and lives in Florida. We have the same Log-In Date (04/05/07) and have become "sisters" through this whole process. Felicity is sooooooooooooooo wonderful and I just love her to death! Thank you Fliss! You're just like a little Tinkerbell showering people with your own special "pixie-dust"....your "surprise" is on its way! hahahahahahahaha

Rocking Chair Pad Completed!

This post is a little late getting posted......a couple of weeks agoThe Hatcher Center called and said that they had completed the rocking chair pad set. I had picked out the cloth and it took about a month for them to get to my order and get it done but it sure is pretty. They do very good quality work and I am pleased with the finished product. Anyhow, here it is........it is dark with purple flowers to go with the lilac walls. Some of you have asked me about it, so I hope you like the picture.
The Hatcher Center will also be the place that will fix my 100 Wishes Quilt once I get all of the wishes/fabric squares. I think I am going to see if I can take a disposal camera and have them take some photos as they sew it so I can put those in Rebekah's journal. I want it to last FOREVER so I figured I'd better get someone else to do the sewing! hahahahaha

Felicity Surprised Us!

Our dear adoption buddy, Felicity, in Florida sent us some goodies for baby Rebekah a couple of weeks ago. I LOVE the pink sweater with the leopard cuffs! Isn't that just PRECIOUS???? The "born to shop" shirt is certainly a sign of things to come! As much as I love to shop, I can't wait until little Rebekah is there to join me!
Thank you so much Felicity. You're a true "sister" in more ways than just sending us little things for Rebekah. You have been a supportive and caring friend the past couple of weeks and I'm glad we share the same LID for our girls! One day we'll be sitting in China with our babies and all of this will be just a memory. Hang in there sister!

Look At What We Got From Our Secret Pals!!!!!

Doug and I could not believe when the mailman brought this huge box to our door and then we saw that it was from Mr. and Mrs. Secret Pal..........what in the world did they get us??????? We went downstairs to the den to open it and the cats followed us...even they were excited! We kept pulling out one thing after another...it was unbelievable! They had sent two months worth of goodies. The February theme was, "Cuddle Me Softly" and they had sent a big stuffed Carters brown bear, a four pack of onesies with little bears, a hooded towel/washcloth set,a soft purple blanket and a pair of footed pjs with bears on them. I had to unpack everything and look at how tiny and cuddly everything was! How SWEET! Then they sent stuff for the March theme which was "Ladybugs and Pandas". They sent this really cool blankie that has the head of a panda and the feet at the other end but it is a SOFFFFTTTTT blankie! How sweet! They also sent a Fisher Price panda soft book/toy and a ladybug crinkle toy with rings, a popup book about a ladybug that is so adorable, a ladybug flying disk, and a message board that has ladybugs on it. They also sent a beautiful silver bracelet with panda charms on that Susan quickly put on HER arm! Not sure if they meant that to be Rebekah's but right now, it's Susan's! hahahahahahaha They are so good, they even sent a pack of balls for the cats to play with and of course they are all over the floor now! We really feel like the cats get just as excited when it's Secret Pal time as we do! They ALL follow us downstairs and sit right at the box watching us unpack everything! They KNEW which one was their's too! MEOW (thanks) from the girls!
Our secret pals ALWAYS ALWAYS make our day! This has been a particularly hard time for us since hearing that we probably won't be getting baby Rebekah until March of next year. We have really struggled with this news and Susan has shed a million tears of frustration in the last couple of weeks. This goody box from our Secret Pals really touched our hearts and it's so touching to know that there are people out there who are working towards this same goal along with us. These people have become our dear friends and one day there will be a happy meeting of us all going on in China! God bless our Secret Pals for their love and support. THANK YOU!

Disappointed AGAIN!

Well BAD NEWS......on Thursday, our agency sent us an email saying that those who are logged in for March/April 06 will have to wait ANOTHER YEAR before they can anticipate referrals and traveling to China for their babies. To say that I was upset is quite an understatement. At this point we feel like we have had the wind knocked right out of our sails! We were thinking late summer or Fall and now it will be around March of 2008. I closed the door to the nursery and am NOT buying anything else "baby related" for while. I have been crying for days and even made myself sick over this whole ordeal. I'm posting a picture of my sister's cat, Binx, and that about sums up how I feel about this whole process. Ok Binx and Tabby, get the "chicken feet" ready!

11 MONTHS......still counting!

Hey everyone.....well today is our 11 month LID-aversary! WOO HOO! We're wondering how many more it will be. CCAA hasn't updated its website for the longest time and we are just praying they will speed up soon with referrals. Happy LID-aversary to all of the other 04/05/06 folks out there, especially Felicity and Mike (our good friends). Take care everyone and keep praying! Oh, the picture is my sister's cat Binx and her dog, Daisy. They look thrilled with the wait too! hahahahahaha
